They Don’t Make Them Like They Used To 14
Aug

Remember when cars had personality? You know, like the old Cadillacs with the giant tail fins. Or look at that old corvette with the split rear window. I’m pretty sure they didn’t do that that for any other reason than to look cool. Another personal favorite of mine is the Datsun 240Z with those sugar scoop headlights. Cars had so much personality that people wrote songs about them. Like when “daddy took the t-bird away” or that “little deuce coupe.”

And inside these gems you didn’t find the cheap plastic things with fake chrome plating. Instead you might find real wood or polished steel. Things were bolted or screwed together in a way that if you needed to fix something you could do it yourself. The seats were big and comfortable sometimes with embroidered patterns or designs.

I’m not saying there are no nice cars boasting a bit of personality anymore. It would be hard to argue that some of the new offerings don’t have personality. It’s funny though that the new ones that I think have the most personality are based on older designs of the car itself. Like the new Dodge Charger or Chevrolet’s highly anticipated release of the new old looking Camero. I’m looking forward to seeing whatever other retro models the auto makers come out with over the next few years.
